The art world has been captivated by the art of clouds indoors. Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde who creates and photographs clouds he creates with a fog machine in empty spaces in Amsterdam has been widely discussed in the media. After an exhibition at Saatchi Gallery London in 2012 his striking images can now be seen at Ronchini Gallery in West London. I had the pleasure of photographing the private view of this exhibition which Berndnaut shares with Adeline de Monseignat whose art is no less interesting. Especially her sculpture made of fur encaged in glass which appears to be breathing captivated many private view goers. This slow breathing gives her sculptures, which the artist also calls “creaptures”, a sense of life. Showing these two young artists together in one exhibition definitely works very well – check it out for yourself! The exhibition is on at Ronchini Gallery until February 16th 2013.
For a bit more information about the artists before your visit have a look at the Washington Post and this BBC clip for Berndnaut, and the Guardian and this clip for Adeline. Enjoy!
And just a few of my images from the private view on Tuesday below.
